A young couple who recently confirmed their marriage in court was brutally shot dead near Malir Halt, raising serious concerns over law and order in Karachi.
A shocking daylight shooting in Karachi has left a young married couple dead after they were attacked while returning from court proceedings linked to their love marriage.
According to police, 20-year-old Nadia and her 25-year-old husband Najeeullah were traveling toward a NADRA office after leaving court when unidentified armed men opened fire near Malir Halt. The couple died on the spot after being hit by multiple bullets fired at close range.
Officials said the couple had recently married by choice, a decision reportedly opposed by Nadia’s family. Her father had earlier filed a kidnapping case at Sachal police station against Najeeullah. During the court hearing, Nadia confirmed that she had willingly married her husband, leading to the dismissal of the case and the release of Najeeullah’s father.
Police sources revealed that the attackers allegedly followed the couple’s vehicle from the court and intercepted them near Saudabad before spraying the car with bullets. Two other individuals traveling in the same vehicle narrowly escaped the attack.
The incident triggered outrage across the city, with many questioning how such a brazen attack could occur in a high-security area surrounded by important government offices and police installations.
Following the killings, Sindh IG Javed Alam Odho took notice of the incident and directed the Karachi police chief to submit a detailed report. Authorities have also ordered the immediate arrest of those involved.
The case has once again highlighted growing concerns over honor-related violence and public safety in Pakistan’s largest city
