Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi has imposed a complete ban on all kinds of construction and building activities in Murree, according to an official notification issued by the district administration.
The notification stated that the restrictions came into immediate effect from March 18, 2026, and apply to every form of construction work across the hill station. Authorities said the decision was taken to regulate ongoing development activities and ensure strict implementation of administrative orders.
Under the new directives, no individual, contractor, or developer will be allowed to carry out construction-related operations until further notice. The administration warned that violators would face strict legal action under relevant laws.
Officials said enforcement teams have also been directed to monitor different areas of Murree to ensure compliance with the orders. Any unauthorized construction activity detected during inspections may result in penalties and legal proceedings.
Murree, a major tourist destination in Murree, has witnessed rapid urban expansion and increased construction activity in recent years, raising concerns over environmental degradation, traffic congestion, and pressure on civic infrastructure.
The latest move by the district administration is expected to impact ongoing private and commercial construction projects, while residents and developers await further clarification regarding the duration and scope of the restrictions.
