Islamabad strengthens security framework and investor confidence through new initiatives and bilateral coordination with China.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong at the Chinese Embassy in the Diplomatic Enclave, where both sides discussed enhancing security cooperation and boosting investor confidence.
The meeting focused on counterterrorism efforts, security collaboration, and police exchange programs, alongside a broader review of the regional security landscape. Officials emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral coordination amid evolving challenges in the region.
A key outcome of the talks was the decision to organize a business conference aimed at addressing security concerns faced by Chinese investors in Pakistan. In the first phase, authorities will engage with the Chinese business community already operating in the country. The second phase will involve outreach to potential investors interested in entering the Pakistani market.
Naqvi announced that a Special Protection Unit (SPU) is being established to ensure the safety of foreign nationals, particularly Chinese citizens residing in Islamabad. He said the unit would provide dedicated security coverage and its personnel would receive specialized training, including Chinese language instruction, to improve communication and response effectiveness.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening Pakistan-China ties, with a focus on safeguarding economic cooperation and promoting a secure environment for ongoing and future investments.
