Pakistan says 10 terrorist hideouts and support infrastructure linked to attacks inside the country were destroyed in precision strikes.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan said Thursday that it had destroyed terrorist hideouts and support infrastructure at 10 locations in areas under the control of the Afghan Taliban government through air and drone strikes.
According to an update issued in Islamabad, the targeted sites included locations allegedly used for launching and storing drones. Pakistan said the targets were precisely identified before being destroyed.
The statement said the locations were linked to terrorist attacks against unarmed civilians inside Pakistan, as well as drone attacks allegedly carried out by the Afghan Taliban government on Sept. 23 that Pakistan said had been foiled.
Pakistan described the operation as part of its response to threats linked to terrorist proxies operating from outside its territory.
The statement said Pakistan would continue taking measures to defend its territorial integrity and protect the lives and property of its citizens against what it described as externally sponsored terrorist proxies, along with their alleged safe havens and support networks.
The update did not provide further details about the exact locations of the 10 targets, the weapons used or any reported casualties resulting from the strikes.
Pakistan has repeatedly raised concerns over militant activity originating from Afghan territory and has called on authorities in Kabul to prevent armed groups from using Afghan soil for attacks against Pakistan.
The latest statement specifically linked the targeted infrastructure to drone-related activity and the Sept. 23 incident, but did not provide additional operational details about the alleged drone attacks.
