Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian meet in New York on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly session to discuss bilateral ties and regional developments.
NEW YORK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian in New York on Thursday on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is also participating in the meeting. Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sen. Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi are accompanying Shehbaz Sharif.
The meeting is focused on Pakistan-Iran relations and the regional situation, the Prime Minister’s Office said.
The talks are taking place as the two neighboring countries continue to engage on bilateral matters and developments affecting the wider region.
The meeting comes during the high-level segment of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where world leaders and senior officials are holding a series of bilateral and multilateral engagements.
