Pakistan’s kabaddi and hockey teams extended their winning starts at the 2026 Asian Games with victories over Nepal and Uzbekistan.
NAGOYA: Pakistan maintained its winning momentum at the 2026 Asian Games on Tuesday as both the national kabaddi and men’s hockey teams secured their second victories of the competition.
The kabaddi team defeated Nepal 58-43 in its second Group B match, while the hockey side recorded a convincing 5-1 win over Uzbekistan to make it two victories from two games.
Pakistan’s kabaddi team followed its impressive 65-22 opening-day victory over Malaysia with another strong performance against Nepal.
The Pakistani players maintained pressure throughout the high-scoring Group B contest to secure a 15-point victory and strengthen their position in the group. Pakistan are competing alongside Iran, Nepal, Thailand and Malaysia, with the top two teams advancing to the semi-finals.
The kabaddi competition is being held in Aichi Prefecture as part of the 20th Asian Games, which officially opened in Japan on Sept. 19.
Pakistan’s men’s hockey team also continued its strong start with a 5-1 victory over Uzbekistan in its second group-stage fixture.
The result came after Pakistan began its campaign with a dominant 9-0 win over Thailand, giving the team a perfect two-from-two record.
Sufyan Khan scored twice against Uzbekistan, while Muhammad Imad, Abdul Rehman and Abu Bakar contributed one goal each.
The five-goal performance highlighted Pakistan’s attacking approach as the team continued its campaign in Pool B. The International Hockey Federation confirmed the 5-1 result, with the match played at Kawasaki Juko Stadium in Japan.
The consecutive victories have given both teams an encouraging start to their respective Asian Games campaigns.
Pakistan will now turn its attention to its remaining group-stage fixtures, with further results set to determine its progress toward the knockout rounds.
