The government has distributed Rs26 million to each of the three bereaved families, including direct financial assistance and funding for residential plots, along with housing support and free education for the victims’ children.
The government has provided Rs26 million each to the families of three Pakistani sailors who died while being held captive by Somali pirates aboard the hijacked oil tanker MT Honour 25.
Sindh Governor Nehal Hashmi distributed cheques among the families of Mahmood Ahmed Ansari, Syed Kashif Umar and Rafiullah Khan on Thursday, following special instructions from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
According to a statement from the Governor House, the financial package is intended to support the bereaved families following the deaths of the three Pakistanis during their captivity. The assistance is designed to ease their financial difficulties and help secure a more stable future for their children.
Rs26 Million Package for Each Family
Each family received a total of Rs26 million under the government’s assistance package. The amount comprises Rs12.5 million in direct financial assistance and Rs13.5 million allocated for the purchase of a residential plot.
A Governor House spokesperson confirmed that the cheques had been handed over to the families. The distribution followed the prime minister’s announcement last week that the government would provide financial support to the families of the deceased sailors.
The package also includes housing assistance and free education for the victims’ children. These measures are intended to reduce the families’ financial burden and help ensure that the children have access to educational opportunities.
The government’s support combines immediate financial relief with assistance aimed at addressing the families’ longer-term needs, including housing and education.
Families Express Gratitude for Government Support
The families thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the government for providing assistance during a difficult period following the loss of their loved ones.
They said the support had helped them feel that the government was standing with them as they dealt with the consequences of the tragedy.
The financial assistance comes after the deaths of the three Pakistani crew members during their captivity aboard the hijacked oil tanker. Their deaths left their families facing uncertainty and additional financial challenges.
Through the announced package, the government has committed financial resources and additional support for housing and education. The measures are intended to help the families manage their expenses and provide better opportunities for the victims’ children.
