Pakistan aim to secure a place in the tri-nation ODI series final as England seek their first win, with the Lahore match dedicated to breast cancer awareness.

LAHORE: Pakistan won the toss and elected to field against England in the fourth match of the tri-nation ODI series at Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday, aiming to extend their unbeaten run and secure a place in the final.

The match has been dedicated to breast cancer awareness under the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Pink Day initiative, which seeks to promote early detection, regular screening and timely treatment during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Pakistan have won both their opening matches in the tournament, defeating Sri Lanka by 37 runs before securing an 87-run victory over England in Rawalpindi. The hosts are looking to maintain their momentum and confirm their place in the final scheduled for Oct. 31.

England, meanwhile, have lost both of their opening matches. After falling to Pakistan, they suffered another defeat against Sri Lanka in a high-scoring encounter in Rawalpindi. They face pressure to revive their campaign and remain in contention for a place in the final.

Fans have begun arriving at Gaddafi Stadium for Sunday’s contest, with both teams reaching the venue ahead of the match.

The tri-nation series features Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka in a double round-robin format, with each team scheduled to play the other sides twice. The top two teams will qualify for the final at Gaddafi Stadium on Oct. 31.

PCB marks Pink Day for breast cancer awareness

The PCB has partnered with Pink Ribbon Pakistan to dedicate the Lahore ODI to breast cancer awareness, using the international cricket match to highlight the importance of early diagnosis and access to medical care.

Pakistan’s players are wearing specially designed pink kits, while pink stumps and awareness messages are being featured at the stadium. England players, match officials and commentators have also been invited to show their support by wearing pink ribbons.

Special Pink Ribbon activities are taking place at the venue, while awareness messages are being displayed on stadium screens and perimeter boards.

The initiative is part of the PCB’s broader efforts to use cricket’s reach to encourage women to seek timely screening and medical advice.

The board has also partnered with Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Trust Hospital in Lahore, which is offering free screening for fans on Oct. 24 and 26.

Remaining tri-series schedule

Pakistan are scheduled to face Sri Lanka on Oct. 27, followed by Sri Lanka’s match against England on Oct. 29. The top two teams will then meet in the final on Oct. 31 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Pakistan will seek to carry their winning form into the remaining fixtures, while England need victories to strengthen their chances of reaching the final.
