Met Office predicts rainfall, strong winds and thunderstorms in upper and central regions, while hot and humid conditions persist elsewhere.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s weather is expected to witness a significant change over the next 24 hours as the Meteorological Department has forecast rain, thunderstorms and strong winds in several parts of the country, offering temporary relief from the ongoing heat.
According to the latest forecast, hot and humid conditions will continue in many regions; however, the influence of westerly weather systems is likely to trigger rainfall and thunderstorms across upper and central parts of Pakistan. In some areas, strong gusty winds and dust storms may also accompany the weather activity.
The Meteorological Department said that Islamabad, various districts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan are likely to receive rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. Isolated locations may experience heavy downpours and strong winds, potentially leading to a temporary drop in temperatures and a reduction in heat intensity.
In Sindh, most districts are expected to remain hot and dry. However, parts of upper Sindh may experience strong winds and dust-laden storms. Meanwhile, northern and northeastern areas of Balochistan are likely to remain partly cloudy, with chances of rainfall at a few locations.
Weather experts believe the anticipated rainfall could improve conditions in several regions by lowering temperatures and making the weather comparatively pleasant. Nevertheless, severe weather activity in some areas may disrupt daily routines and travel plans.
The Meteorological Department has warned that strong winds associated with thunderstorms could damage weak structures, electricity poles and trees. Citizens have been advised to take precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during adverse weather conditions.
