Celebrated author of over 100 books Dr. Haroon Rasheed Tabassum remembered for lifelong academic and literary contributions
SARGODHA: Dr. Haroon Rasheed Tabassum, a distinguished scholar and author of more than 100 books, has died after suffering a heart attack, his family confirmed. He was widely regarded as one of Sargodha’s most respected academic figures.
According to family sources, Tabassum experienced a cardiac arrest about a week ago. He was initially treated at Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Hospital in Sargodha before being shifted to Mubarak Hospital, a well-known private medical facility in the city. As his condition deteriorated, he was later transferred to Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore for advanced care.
His illness and treatment sparked discussion on social media, where some users raised concerns about the quality and availability of medical facilities during the early stages of his treatment. No official statement was issued regarding those claims.
Dr. Tabassum devoted his life to education, research and writing, producing an extensive body of work that influenced students and scholars across the region. Colleagues described him as a dedicated teacher whose intellectual contributions shaped generations.
Funeral prayers are expected to be announced by the family. He is survived by his family, students and a large circle of admirers who remember him for his scholarship and humility.
