LAHORE: Police have launched a full-scale investigation after a 10-year-old girl was found unconscious inside the washroom of a private tuition center in Lahore’s Ichhra area and later died at a hospital. Authorities are investigating allegations of sexual assault, though the exact cause of death and the nature of the incident remain subject to forensic and post-mortem examination.
According to Lahore Police, the child, identified as Naeema Bibi, had gone to attend her regular tuition class. Preliminary findings suggest the classes were being conducted on the second floor of a three-story house. The girl reportedly went to the ground-floor washroom but did not return for several minutes.
Police said a teacher went downstairs to check on her and found the child unconscious inside the washroom. Nearby residents gathered after the alarm was raised, and the girl was immediately taken to a hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.
SP Model Town Asad Ali, who reached the scene with police teams, said legal proceedings are underway and investigators are collecting physical and forensic evidence. He stated that the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident will be determined after the investigation and post-mortem report are completed.
Police said marks were found on the child’s neck during the initial examination. The owner of the building, Abdul Rauf, along with several other individuals, has been taken into custody for questioning. Statements are being recorded, and investigators are reviewing all available evidence.
