The United States is planning to release new currency notes to mark its 250th anniversary, featuring the signature of President Donald Trump. According to American media reports, the Treasury Department has begun preparations for the issuance of these notes, a first in US history.
Traditionally, US currency has only carried the signatures of the Secretary of the Treasury and the Treasurer, making this a highly unusual precedent. The move is seen as a unique tribute coinciding with the nation’s semiquincentennial celebrations.
In addition, earlier this month, a federal arts commission approved the final design of a commemorative 24-carat gold coin featuring President Trump’s portrait. The coin is also scheduled to be released on July 4, alongside the official 250th anniversary celebrations of the United States.
