PCB assures full PSL schedule continuity amid Middle East tensions and travel disruptions.
KARACHI: The Pakistan Super League will proceed on schedule despite rising regional tensions in the Middle East, the Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed, as it released updated training and travel arrangements for participating franchises.
The Pakistan Cricket Board said teams will begin training sessions on March 24 and 25, with players expected to arrive in Lahore by March 23 for final preparations. Two franchises will train simultaneously during designated sessions.
The tournament is set to open on March 26 at Gaddafi Stadium, where defending champions Lahore Qalandars will face Hyderabad Kings in the opening match.
Officials acknowledged that flight disruptions across the UAE and Qatar have complicated travel logistics, prompting teams to explore alternative routes via Thailand, Singapore, and Turkish Airlines networks. Players from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are expected to arrive through direct flights, while those from Australia, New Zealand, and England will use rerouted connections.
PCB officials said no overseas player has formally withdrawn, and franchises remain confident that squads will assemble on time. Security arrangements are under review, particularly ahead of the March 28 fixture between Peshawar Zalmi and Rawalpindi.
The league’s 39-day schedule includes 44 matches across six cities, with the final set for May 3. Officials confirmed no plans to shift venues, stating that security will match high-level state protocols.
