Pakistan has announced that Iran has granted permission for 20 additional Pakistani-flagged vessels to pass through the strategic Strait of Hormuz, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, Ishaq Dar said that two ships per day will now be allowed to cross the waterway, marking a significant easing of maritime restrictions. He welcomed the decision by Iran, describing it as constructive and appreciative of regional cooperation.
Dar also tagged senior international figures including U.S. Vice President JD Vance, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasizing the importance of diplomatic engagement.
He said the development reflects growing momentum toward peace and stability in the region and represents an important step in strengthening collective efforts for de escalation.
The deputy prime minister stressed that dialogue, diplomacy, and confidence-building measures remain the only viable path forward for resolving regional tensions and ensuring long-term stability in maritime trade routes.
