The franchise Lahore Qalandars has imposed a fine of PKR 1 million on its captain Shaheen Afridi following an alleged security protocol violation during a recent team-related incident.
According to an official statement, the franchise informed the Pakistan Cricket Board about the disciplinary action after conducting an internal inquiry into the matter. The team clarified that the incident took place at a hotel and was reportedly misrepresented and exaggerated in some media reports.
The Lahore Qalandars stated that the issue resulted from a misunderstanding rather than any intentional breach of rules. The management emphasized that the decision to fine the captain was taken in line with their commitment to accountability and discipline within the squad. The franchise also reiterated its respect for all security protocols and operational guidelines.
The controversy emerged after reports suggested that guests of player Sikandar Raza were allegedly taken into a players’ area despite security personnel advising against it. The situation prompted internal review and clarification from team management.
The franchise further stated that maintaining professionalism and ensuring strict adherence to security standards remain top priorities.
