Five suspects arrested as authorities target drug networks near colleges and urban centers
Pakistan’s Anti-Narcotics Force has intensified its nationwide crackdown against drug trafficking, carrying out multiple operations near educational institutions and in major cities, resulting in the arrest of five suspects and the seizure of significant quantities of narcotics.
According to an official statement, six operations were conducted in different regions, leading to the recovery of 31.7 kilograms of hashish valued at over Rs2.3 million. The actions form part of ongoing efforts to curb the spread of drugs, particularly among students.
Operations Target Educational Institutions
In Haripur, authorities recovered 300 grams of hashish from a suspect near a college. The accused reportedly confessed to supplying drugs to students, raising concerns about narcotics access in academic environments.
In separate operations, major recoveries were made in Karachi and Rawalpindi. In Karachi’s Sohrab Goth area, 15 kilograms of hashish were seized, while another raid near Jannjal Goth led to the recovery of 8 kilograms of hashish along with 111 bottles of liquor.
Meanwhile, in Rawalpindi’s Pirwadhai area, officials intercepted a vehicle carrying 3.6 kilograms of hashish and conducted an additional raid near the bus terminal, recovering 2.4 kilograms more.
Another suspect was arrested near the toll plaza in Sheikhupura with 2.4 kilograms of hashish.
Cases have been registered under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act 1997, and investigations are underway to dismantle wider drug networks operating across the country.
