Authorities act against fuel stations halting supply before anticipated petroleum price increase
Islamabad authorities launched a late-night crackdown on petrol pumps accused of suspending fuel supply ahead of a potential increase in petroleum prices, officials said.
Enforcement Action Intensifies Across Key Areas
According to officials, at least eight petrol pumps were sealed for halting petrol sales before midnight, a move seen as an attempt to avoid selling fuel at existing rates. Enforcement teams also arrested four individuals involved in disrupting the supply of petroleum products.
The operation targeted multiple areas of the capital, including I-8, Tarlai, G-13, and G-6, where authorities reported deliberate efforts by pump operators to restrict fuel availability.
Officials further stated that strict action was taken against stations operating with only a single nozzle during fuel distribution, as this practice contributed to artificial shortages and public inconvenience.
The crackdown comes amid growing concerns over fuel hoarding and supply manipulation ahead of expected price revisions. Authorities warned that further violations would result in additional closures and legal action to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability for the public.
