Beijing says military strikes on Iran are the root cause of instability threatening vital global shipping routes
China has strongly criticized United States and Israel, holding them responsible for rising tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and warning of serious consequences for global trade.
During a press briefing, a spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry stated that recent military strikes against Iran are not only “illegal” but also a major factor behind disruptions in international shipping lanes. The spokesperson emphasized that continued conflict is undermining the safety of one of the world’s most critical maritime routes.
According to Beijing, stability in the Middle East is essential for maintaining global economic balance. China urged the international community to work collectively to de-escalate tensions, restore peace, and ensure the uninterrupted flow of trade through key sea routes.
The Strait of Hormuz carries nearly 20% of the world’s petroleum supply, making it one of the most strategically important waterways. In response to recent developments, Iran has signaled the possibility of restricting access to the strait for adversarial nations, raising fears of supply disruptions and rising oil prices.
Analysts warn that prolonged instability could severely impact global supply chains, particularly in energy-dependent economies across Asia, further straining an already fragile global economy.
