Departments placed on high alert with focus on emergency response, utilities, and tourist facilitation
A crucial meeting of the District Emergency Board was held at the DC Office under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Murree, Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, to review preparedness in light of the adverse weather alert.
The meeting focused on ensuring the safety of local residents, citizens, and tourists, along with the provision of essential services and preparedness to handle any emergency situation. A detailed review of district-level arrangements and readiness of all relevant departments was conducted.
On the special directives of the Deputy Commissioner, authorities were instructed to formulate a comprehensive security plan for the Christian community’s upcoming religious festival.
Heads of all concerned departments briefed the DC on their preparedness, including contingency plans, emergency response strategies, traffic management, rescue and medical services, uninterrupted supply of electricity and gas, sanitation, security measures, and tourist facilitation.
All departments have been directed to remain on high alert and ensure field presence. Help desks and control rooms must remain fully operational for public assistance. In case of emergencies, Rescue 1122, Traffic Police, Civil Defence, and the Highways Department will work in coordinated response.
Special teams will be deployed at tourist spots, while real-time weather updates will be shared via social media and helplines. Authorities have also emphasized uninterrupted provision of electricity, gas, and clean drinking water.
Citizens have been advised to drive carefully during rain and hailstorms.
Officials also briefed the meeting on the Building Safety Act 2022, installation of fire hydrants, identification of hazardous locations, and measures taken to prevent road traffic accidents.
