Authorities ensure comprehensive protection for Christian community with large-scale deployments and strict protocols
Punjab Police has been placed on high alert ahead of the Easter celebrations, with authorities finalizing extensive security arrangements across the province to ensure peaceful observance.
Inspector General of Police Rao Abdul Kareem extended greetings to the Christian community, emphasizing that the police force stands in solidarity with them during the festive occasion. He highlighted that security planning has been proactive and comprehensive.
According to official data, more than 17,000 police personnel have been deployed to secure over 3,153 Easter-related events province-wide. In Lahore, over 3,000 officers have been assigned to protect 647 gatherings, making it a key focus area.
Authorities have implemented strict security protocols, including thorough entry checks at churches. Additional forces, such as snipers and trained commandos, have been stationed at sensitive locations to counter potential threats.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also extended his Easter greetings, calling the occasion a symbol of hope, peace, and renewal. He stressed the importance of interfaith harmony and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding minority rights.
Officials say these measures reflect a strong commitment to maintaining law and order while ensuring that religious communities can celebrate freely and securely.
