Lahore High Court approves bail for woman featured in controversial video under IPC and cybercrime charges.
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has approved post‑arrest bail for Tehmina Iftikhar, also known as Gogo Arain, in the widely circulated “Umairi” viral video scandal, legal sources confirmed.
Iftikhar was accused in FIR No. 103/26 registered at Aroop Police Station on charges including Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code (related to sexual assault) and Section 292D of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
The bail petition was heard by Justice Shehram Sarwar of the Lahore High Court, who granted bail after reviewing the arguments presented by counsel for the petitioner. The judge allowed her release subject to the usual judicial conditions and surety bonds, according to court information shared on social platforms by legal observers.
The case has drawn significant public attention due to the alleged circulation of the video on social media, raising debates on cybercrime laws and digital privacy. Iftikhar’s legal team argued that the evidence did not justify continued detention, while prosecutors maintained that the offences were serious in nature under both the Penal Code and PECA.
Legal analysts say the decision underscores the role of bail rights even in high‑profile and sensitive cases, balancing preventive detention with procedural fairness.
