Journalist Naeem Hanif exposes the truth behind Pakistan Idol’s suspension, revealing unpaid judges, vendors, and stalled payments worth 50 crores PKR.
Pakistani journalist Naeem Hanif has revealed shocking details behind the suspension of the popular talent show Pakistan Idol, calling it a “Fraud Idol” fiasco. Originally promoted as an extension of the American Idol franchise, the show returned with a star-studded panel including Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Fawad Khan, Zeb Bangash, and Bilal Maqsood.
While audiences were told that the suspension was due to war and economic challenges, the reality is far darker. According to Hanif, the production company failed to pay vendors, artists, and judges, leaving over 50 crores PKR stuck. Photographer Ahsan Qureshy had already filed a lawsuit over non-payment.
Hanif claims the producers approached key figures individually to prevent a united front, and the show’s finale was neither filmed nor aired. Efforts are ongoing to settle disputes, but the scandal has cast a shadow over Pakistan Idol, turning it into one of the biggest entertainment frauds in recent memory.
