A resolution has been submitted in the Punjab Assembly proposing the nomination of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar for the Nobel Peace Prize.
The resolution was moved in the provincial assembly by PML-N Chief Whip Rana Muhammad Arshad.
It states that the House acknowledges and appreciates the effective diplomacy carried out by the prime minister, the field marshal, and the foreign minister, which has contributed to promoting peace and stability in the region.
The resolution further notes that tensions between Israel, the United States, and Iran had escalated significantly, posing a serious threat to global peace and potentially leading to a broader international crisis.
It adds that Pakistan played a positive and balanced role as a peace-oriented state in the international community during this sensitive period.
Lawmakers stated that the leadership played a key role in facilitating ceasefire efforts and reducing regional tensions.
The House unanimously called for the nomination of the three leaders for the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of their diplomatic efforts.
