China says Iran war “should not have happened” as it urges urgent return to talks

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

BEIJING: China has issued a sharp warning over the Iran conflict, saying the war “should not have happened” and calling for an immediate return to diplomatic negotiations as concerns mount over its global economic and energy consequences.

The statement came on Friday as Beijing responded to questions surrounding discussions between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, reiterating that its position on the conflict remains unchanged and firmly focused on de-escalation.

Chinese officials said the fighting has caused “severe losses” in Iran and neighbouring countries while intensifying pressure on already fragile global systems, including trade networks, energy markets and supply chains.

They warned that the continued spillover from the conflict is increasingly disrupting global economic growth and international trade stability, adding that the situation affects “the common interests of the international community.”

Beijing also welcomed the recent US-Iran ceasefire and renewed diplomatic efforts, stressing that dialogue remains the only viable path forward. Officials described the use of force as a “dead end” and urged all sides to keep the “door of dialogue” open.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry further cautioned that prolonged instability is threatening global energy security, particularly shipping routes and supply chains critical to international commerce. It called for the rapid reopening of maritime lanes and sustained efforts to prevent further escalation.

Reaffirming its long-standing diplomatic stance, China said political settlement and negotiation are essential for lasting peace in the Middle East. It added that it will continue engaging with international partners to support talks aimed at stabilising the region.

Beijing concluded by stating it will play a “constructive role” in promoting peace negotiations, urging all parties to maintain momentum toward a comprehensive settlement that addresses the concerns of all stakeholders.
