RAWALPINDI: Allegations of misconduct during a Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) raid at a gold shop in Rawalpindi have sparked widespread public concern, with calls growing for a transparent investigation into the incident.
According to claims circulating from the scene, officials conducting the raid allegedly mistreated the shop owner and staff. It has further been alleged that an elderly man was slapped in front of his son during the operation, prompting accusations of excessive use of authority.
The reported incident has drawn strong reactions from traders and civil society members, who say that while law enforcement agencies are empowered to act against illegal activities, any form of humiliation or physical abuse of citizens is unacceptable.
Social media users and local voices have also demanded accountability, urging senior government officials to take immediate notice of the matter and ensure an impartial inquiry. Many have stressed that public trust in institutions depends on adherence to legal and ethical limits during enforcement actions.
Authorities have not yet issued a detailed public statement regarding the allegations. However, pressure is mounting for a formal investigation to determine the facts and establish whether procedural or legal violations occurred during the raid.
The incident has added to ongoing debates in Pakistan about enforcement practices, citizens’ rights, and the boundaries of authority exercised during investigative operations.
