Ghulam Mubashir Mekan said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police never forgets its martyrs as an emotional ceremony was held in Dera Ismail Khan to honor the sacrifice of SSP Ijaz Ahmad Langrial Shaheed, who embraced martyrdom in 2001 while serving for peace and security in the district.
The dignified event was chaired by RPO Dera Ghulam Mubashir Mekan and attended by Ziauddin Ahmad, the martyr’s son Arsalan Ahmad, senior journalist Aslam Awan, and several police officials who had served alongside the fallen officer during his career.
Addressing the gathering, the RPO praised SSP Ijaz Ahmad Langrial Shaheed for sacrificing his life in the line of duty, calling his bravery and dedication a guiding light for future generations of police officers. He emphasized that the sacrifices of police martyrs remain a source of pride and identity for the department.
Former colleagues and attendees recalled the martyr as a courageous, principled and responsible officer whose loss was deeply felt across the police force. Speakers described his sacrifice as an unforgettable chapter in the history of Dera Police and a symbol of commitment to public safety.
During the ceremony, officials also spoke with Arsalan Ahmad, reminding him that his father’s sacrifice for the country’s peace would always be remembered. Arsalan expressed gratitude to Dera Police for standing beside his family over the years and said he felt proud of his father’s service and martyrdom.
At the conclusion of the event, RPO Ghulam Mubashir Mekan presented an honorary shield to Arsalan Ahmad and reiterated that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police would continue to honor its martyrs and support their families.
Following the ceremony, Dera Police took the martyr’s son to the DPO House, the attack site where SSP Ijaz Ahmad Langrial Shaheed was targeted, the Dera Museum, and Police Lines. He also visited the martyrs’ memorial, laid flowers, and offered prayers. Traditional gifts, including an Ajrak and cultural cap, were also presented to him by the police department.
