ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Russia held the 16th session of the Russia-Pakistan Consultative Group on Strategic Stability in Moscow, where officials from both countries discussed international security, arms control and broader global stability issues amid evolving geopolitical tensions.
The meeting was co-chaired by Sergey Ryabkov and Tahir Hussain Andrabi, according to a joint statement released after the talks.
During the detailed consultations, both delegations reviewed matters related to arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation frameworks while exchanging views on emerging international security challenges affecting regional and global stability.
Officials from Islamabad and Moscow noted that both countries shared similar approaches on most of the issues discussed during the meeting. The two sides also reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close coordination and engagement at international forums dealing with strategic and security matters.
The latest round of talks reflects the continuing diplomatic engagement between Pakistan and Russia as both countries seek stronger cooperation in political, economic and security sectors.
In recent years, bilateral ties between Islamabad and Moscow have expanded through increased diplomatic exchanges, defense cooperation and regional dialogue, particularly on issues related to South Asia, Afghanistan and global security dynamics.
The joint statement further confirmed that the 17th meeting of the Russia-Pakistan Consultative Group on Strategic Stability will be held next year in Islamabad, signaling the continuation of high-level strategic engagement between the two countries.
