Pakistan Announces Eidul Azha Holidays And Employees Just Noticed It Could Turn Into a 6-Day Break

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has officially announced public holidays for Eidul Azha from May 26 to May 28, 2026, according to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Wednesday.

The notification stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved three public holidays on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for Eidul Azha celebrations across the country. The decision was issued through the Cabinet Secretariat’s Cabinet Division and circulated to all federal ministries, departments and provincial authorities.

With Friday, Saturday and Sunday following immediately after the announced holidays, many government employees and private sector workers are expecting an extended six-day holiday period, sparking excitement among citizens planning travel and family gatherings for Eid festivities.

The official notification, dated May 20, 2026, directed the Press Information Department to ensure wide publicity through national English and Urdu newspapers as well as electronic media outlets.

Eidul Azha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the most significant religious occasions in the Islamic calendar. Muslims across Pakistan traditionally celebrate the festival with congregational prayers, animal sacrifice and family gatherings.

Transport terminals, shopping centers and cattle markets are also expected to witness increased activity in the coming days as people prepare for the holidays and travel to their hometowns.

Authorities are likely to announce special security and traffic management plans closer to Eid to manage the expected rush in major cities and highways.
