Pakistan Announces Surprise Petrol Price Cut, Relief for Millions Starts This Week

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Federal government reduces petrol price by Rs.4 per litre while keeping high-speed diesel rates unchanged for the upcoming week.

ISLAMABAD: In a move expected to provide relief to motorists across Pakistan, the federal government has officially reduced the price of petrol (Motor Spirit) by Rs4 per litre for the next pricing period starting June 6, 2026. The decision was announced through a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division).

According to the notification, the ex-depot price of petrol has been decreased from Rs.381.78 per litre to Rs.377.78 per litre. However, the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) has been kept unchanged at Rs.380.78 per litre.

The revised rates will take effect from June 6 and remain applicable until the next weekly fuel price review. The adjustment comes amid ongoing fluctuations in international oil markets and the government’s regular review mechanism for petroleum products.

The reduction is expected to ease transportation costs for private vehicle owners and may offer some support to consumers already facing inflationary pressures. Fuel price revisions remain a key economic indicator, influencing transportation expenses and overall market prices across the country.

The latest cut follows previous reductions in petroleum prices, reflecting changes in global crude oil trends and domestic pricing calculations.
