Pakistan Meteorological Department warns that a strong weather system could trigger windstorms, thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and isolated hailstorms across several regions within the next few hours.
Pakistan is bracing for a significant change in weather as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Monday issued an urgent advisory warning of windstorms, thunderstorms, and heavy rainfall across multiple parts of the country. The department said the developing weather system is expected to become active within the next four to six hours, raising concerns about travel disruptions and localized damage.
According to the PMD, strong gusty winds accompanied by thunderstorms are likely to impact several areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Isolated locations may also experience torrential rain and hailstorms, increasing the risk of flash flooding, reduced visibility, and damage to weak structures.
The forecast includes Swat, Shangla, Chitral, Buner, Malakand, Kurram, Waziristan, Mansehra, Haripur, Abbottabad, Battagram, Kohistan, Dir, and surrounding areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In Azad Kashmir, Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Rawalakot, Garhi Dupatta, and nearby localities are expected to be affected.
The advisory also covers Barkhan, Musakhel, Zhob, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, and Kohlu in Balochistan, while Mianwali, Khushab, and Sargodha in Punjab remain under warning. Murree, the Galliyat region, and parts of Gilgit-Baltistan are also expected to witness severe weather conditions.
