Police say technical evidence and human intelligence led investigators to a close relative who allegedly confessed to strangling the child following a dispute during play.
A tragic child murder case in Faisalabad has been solved after police arrested a close relative accused of killing seven-year-old Shakeel. The breakthrough came just days after the child’s body was discovered, bringing an end to an investigation that had shocked the local community.
According to police, Shakeel went missing from Chak No. 71 JB Surli two days earlier. His body was later recovered from a nearby enclosed property. Investigators determined that the child had been physically assaulted before being strangled with a rope.
Using technical evidence and human intelligence, police identified and arrested the prime suspect, Ali Raza, a close relative of the victim. During questioning, the suspect allegedly confessed that he killed the child after becoming angry over offensive remarks the boy reportedly made about his sister while they were playing. Police said the suspect lured the child to a nearby house and strangled him with a rope inside a bathroom.
The victim’s family expressed gratitude to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Faisalabad City Police Officer (CPO), SP Iqbal Division, and the investigation team for their swift action in solving the case.
