The federal government has increased the petroleum levy on petrol while reducing it on high-speed diesel, with the revised rates taking effect immediately under a new official notification.
Pakistan’s federal government has revised the petroleum levy on major petroleum products, issuing a new notification that changes the levy structure for petrol and high-speed diesel with immediate effect.
According to the official notification, the petroleum levy on petrol has been increased by Rs6.22 per litre, raising the total levy to Rs70.36 per litre. In contrast, the levy on high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs6.22 per litre, bringing the revised rate to Rs70.82 per litre.
The government stated that the levy on kerosene oil will remain unchanged at Rs20.36 per litre. Likewise, the Rs5 per litre carbon levy imposed on petroleum products has not been revised.
Officials confirmed that the updated levy rates are effective immediately following the issuance of the notification. The adjustment reflects the government’s latest fiscal policy on petroleum taxation while keeping other fuel-related levies unchanged.
