Rawalpindi’s historic railway station has been illuminated ahead of Independence Day, reflecting Pakistan’s close ties with Türkiye and Saudi Arabia.
RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Railway Station has taken on a striking festive appearance ahead of Pakistan’s Independence Day, with the historic landmark illuminated in colors associated with Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia.
The station building has been decorated with red and green lighting and the national flags of the three countries, creating a prominent display as preparations for Aug. 14 celebrations gather pace across the city.
The illumination comes amid growing diplomatic and strategic engagement among Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, with the display highlighting the close relations between the three countries following the signing of the Mecca defense agreement.
Under the decorative arrangement, red lighting represents Türkiye, while green reflects the national colors of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The same red and green lighting scheme has also been installed at the Railway Headquarters Police Station in Rawalpindi.
The colorful decorations have added a festive touch to one of the city’s best-known landmarks while carrying a broader message of friendship and cooperation among the three countries.
As Pakistan prepares to celebrate its Independence Day on Aug. 14, public buildings and prominent locations are being decorated to create a celebratory atmosphere. The illumination of Rawalpindi Railway Station has provided a particularly visible display for commuters and residents passing through the historic transport hub.
