NADRA Sends Notices to 4,506 Suspicious CNIC Holders Across Karachi, Sindh

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

NADRA has asked 4,506 suspicious CNIC holders in Karachi and interior Sindh to submit identity and citizenship documents within seven days.

KARACHI: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued notices to 4,506 holders of suspicious Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) in Karachi and various parts of Sindh, giving them seven days to establish the validity of their identity and citizenship records.

The affected individuals have been directed to appear before their respective NADRA zonal offices and submit the documents and other evidence required for verification. The authority has warned that failure to respond within the specified period could lead to cancellation of the CNICs.

NADRA has also cautioned that, in cases where verification requirements are not fulfilled, the identity cards of other family members could also face cancellation.

Of the notices issued, 2,318 have reportedly been sent to CNIC holders living in different districts of Karachi, while the remaining 2,400 notices concern individuals residing in various cities across interior Sindh.

The latest action forms part of NADRA’s wider scrutiny of identity records where discrepancies or questions have emerged concerning the authenticity of CNICs or information provided by their holders.

The verification process gives the affected individuals an opportunity to present supporting evidence and clarify their records before further action is taken. NADRA officials have emphasized the need for timely cooperation with the authority and submission of satisfactory documentation.

The scale of the latest operation also highlights the broader scope of NADRA’s ongoing identity verification drive. More than 10,000 suspicious CNIC cases have reportedly been identified across Pakistan this year, with the latest notices adding thousands of cases in Sindh.
