PM directs NITB to improve digital public services and orders priority completion and outsourcing of Islamabad Technology Park.
Pakistan Pushes Faster Digital Government Reforms
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday directed the National Information Technology Board (NITB) to focus on delivering simpler, more efficient and modern digital services to citizens.
Chairing a review meeting on NITB reforms and the progress of the Islamabad Technology Park, the prime minister said government institutions must work in coordination to ensure timely, transparent and accessible digital services.
Sharif said facilitating citizens in accessing government services remained a key priority. He also directed authorities to upgrade all government digital platforms in line with modern requirements and accelerate the digitization of public institutions.
The prime minister described the transfer of federal ministries to e-office systems as one of the government’s most significant digital reforms. He ordered all subordinate federal departments and state-owned enterprises to ensure the use of e-office.
He also instructed authorities to complete the digitization of records of all government-owned properties at the earliest.
Sharif expressed displeasure over delays in completing the Islamabad Technology Park and ordered its construction to be expedited. He directed that the facility be made operational on a priority basis and fully outsourced for management.
