DG ISPR Tears Into India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ Documentary, Questions Claims of Military Victory

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

DG ISPR says India’s Operation Sindoor documentary selectively presents events and raises questions over its timeline, military claims and end of hostilities.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s military has sharply rejected an Indian documentary’s portrayal of Operation Sindoor, accusing its creators of selectively presenting events and attempting to recast the outcome of the 2025 military confrontation as an Indian victory.

In a statement posted on X, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) said the documentary used edited interviews, emotional narration and cinematic reconstructions to present what he described as a distorted account of the conflict. He argued that the production contained contradictions that undermined its central claims.

The strongest criticism focused on the documentary’s chronology surrounding the Pahalgam incident and Operation Sindoor. According to the DG ISPR, the documentary attempts to link an April 16, 2025, address by Pakistan’s Army chief with the April 22 Pahalgam incident.

He further pointed to India’s later claim that three alleged perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack were identified and killed on July 28, 2025. The DG ISPR questioned how Operation Sindoor, which began on May 7 according to Pakistan’s account, could be presented as punishment for those individuals if their deaths were reported months later.

“Who,” he asked in substance, “did India claim to have punished on May 7?”

The Pakistani military spokesman also disputed India’s reported claim of “100 percent mission success.” He said Pakistan’s armed forces had thwarted Indian military action during what Pakistan calls Marka-e-Haq and claimed that eight Indian military aircraft were shot down.

Pakistan subsequently launched Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, which the DG ISPR said involved precision-guided rockets and missiles, Pakistan Air Force precision munitions, long-range loitering munitions and precision artillery against 26 military targets.

The statement also challenged the documentary’s portrayal of Pakistan as decisively defeated. The DG ISPR said Indian military officials themselves acknowledged Pakistani missile, drone and air activity, along with sustained engagements along the Line of Control and the activation of Indian air-defense systems.

He also questioned the documentary’s account of how hostilities ended. According to the Pakistani military’s statement, the cessation of military action followed communication between the two countries’ directors general of military operations. The DG ISPR argued that an agreed cessation of hostilities, which Pakistan says was facilitated by the United States, could not subsequently be presented as evidence of an unconditional Indian victory.

The statement concluded with a broader warning that Pakistan remains committed to regional peace and stability while maintaining that its armed forces are prepared to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The DG ISPR said future military action against Pakistan would face a “firm, decisive” response, arguing that cinematic portrayals cannot alter battlefield events, military losses or the chronology of the confrontation.
