Pakistan Issues Fresh NOTAM as Restrictions on Indian Civilian and Military Aircraft Continue
Pakistan has extended its airspace restrictions on Indian aircraft, with the latest Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) keeping the ban in effect from Aug. 18 until Sept. 23, 2026, according to a report published Aug. 19.
The restriction covers Indian-registered and Indian-operated aircraft, as well as aircraft owned or leased by Indian entities. The measures also apply to Indian commercial and military aircraft, meaning such planes will not be permitted to transit Pakistani airspace during the specified period.
The latest extension continues a long-running restriction between Pakistan and India. Pakistan has repeatedly renewed the airspace closure through NOTAMs, while India has maintained reciprocal restrictions on Pakistani aircraft.
A NOTAM is an official aviation notice used to communicate information that may affect flight operations. Pakistan Airports Authority maintains a dedicated NOTAM system for operational aviation alerts.
The continued closure means Indian airlines and other affected operators must continue using alternative flight paths for routes that would otherwise cross Pakistani airspace. Such restrictions can have operational and commercial implications, particularly for flights between India and destinations in Europe, the Middle East and beyond.
