Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended the opening ceremony in Bishkek as Pakistani athletes joined competitors from across Central Asia and beyond.
BISHKEK: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif attended the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games in Bishkek on Tuesday, where a Pakistani contingent was also presented at the stadium.
Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Japarov welcomed the prime minister upon his arrival at the venue. Other heads of state attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting also participated in the opening ceremony.
The Pakistani contingent received a warm welcome as it entered the stadium. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif applauded the athletes and paid tribute to the team, while spectators also welcomed the Pakistani delegation.
Pakistani athletes are participating in various sports at the international competition.
The World Nomad Games are an international sports competition centered on traditional sports associated with the cultures of Central Asia. The event features disciplines rooted in traditional sporting and cultural practices.
Competitions include wrestling, horse racing, archery and activities based on traditional animal hunting practices, along with mental and intellectual games.
The participation of Pakistani athletes adds to the country’s presence at an event that brings together competitors representing traditional sporting cultures from different nations.
