ISLAMABAD: Security forces killed 10 terrorists during separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa between Sept. 15 and 17, the military’s media wing said Friday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan after receiving information about the presence of terrorists in the area.
During the operation, troops targeted a suspected terrorist hideout, leading to an intense exchange of fire. Six terrorists were killed, the ISPR said.
In a separate encounter in Hangu, four more terrorists were killed. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the slain militants, according to the military’s media wing.
The ISPR said the terrorists killed in the operations had been involved in several attacks and other terrorist activities in the areas where the operations were conducted.
The military also reported a separate IED incident in which a security forces convoy was targeted on Sept. 17. Six soldiers were martyred in the attack, according to the ISPR.
Separately, security forces conducted another intelligence-based operation in the Badrang area of Balochistan’s Awaran district, where three terrorists were killed, according to security sources.
A large quantity of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the slain terrorists, the sources said.
The operations come amid continued security activity against militant groups in different parts of the country.
The state refers to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as Fitna al-Khawarij, while the term Fitna al-Hindustan is used for terrorist organizations operating in Balochistan.
