NADRA official Fahad was attacked by unidentified gunmen while walking toward his office in Hayatabad; police suspect personal enmity.

PESHAWAR: Unidentified armed men shot dead a deputy assistant director of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) in Peshawar’s Hayatabad area, police said.

The victim, identified as Fahad, was targeted shortly after parking his vehicle in the parking area of the NADRA office and walking toward the building.

According to police, unidentified assailants opened fire on him, leaving him critically injured. He succumbed to his injuries in the attack. The incident took place in Hayatabad, one of Peshawar’s major residential and commercial areas.

Police said initial evidence suggested that the killing could be linked to personal enmity. However, investigators have not yet established the motive behind the attack, and further investigation is underway.

Authorities are working to identify the attackers and determine the circumstances surrounding the killing. The identities of the suspects and details of their possible involvement have not been disclosed.

The incident adds to concerns over attacks targeting government employees and law enforcement personnel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Government officials, particularly police and personnel associated with law enforcement agencies, have periodically been targeted in different parts of the province, including Peshawar.

In a similar incident on October 10, unidentified gunmen shot dead Election Commission of Pakistan Director General Shamshad Khan Mehsud in Tank district.

However, no connection between the two killings has been established.

The latest attack has prompted an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Fahad’s killing, with police continuing efforts to trace the suspects and establish the motive.
