The 98th Academy Awards nominations have been announced, igniting excitement across Hollywood. Ryan Coogler’s vampire period drama Sinners emerged as the frontrunner, earning a record breaking16 nominations surpassing classics such as Titanic La La Land, and All About Eve.

The film secured major nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay. Michael B.Jordan was recognized in the Best Actor category while Wunmi Mosaku and Delroy Lindo earned nods for Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor respectively.

Close behind is One Battle After Another which collected 13 nominations.Teyana Taylor received a Best Supporting Actress nomination while Delroy Lindo will compete against Sean Penn and Benicio del Toro in the supporting actor race.

The nominations were announced by Lewis Pullman and Danielle Brooks. The Oscars ceremony will air live on ABC on March 15 with Conan O’Brien returning as host.

Other Best Picture contenders include Bugonia, Hamnet Marty Supreme Sentimental Value, and Train Dreams setting the stage for a competitive awards season.
