BAHAWALNAGAR:(Aamir Sultan)- The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) continued its special campaign against substandard and unhygienic dairy units in Bahawalnagar, taking action against two khoya (condensed milk) production units in Khaiwan Wala Tibba and Fort Abbas.
According to a spokesperson for the Food Authority, inspection teams examined the two khoya units and found serious violations of food safety standards. During the operation, 95 kilograms of adulterated khoya were discarded, while machinery and other production materials were seized.
The spokesperson said cases have been registered against the unit owners, and two suspects were arrested in connection with the violations. Production at the units has been suspended until necessary improvements are made and compliance with food safety regulations is ensured.
The Food Authority stated that the khoya was being prepared using hazardous and unhygienic ingredients, posing serious health risks to consumers. The actions were taken in light of laboratory test reports confirming the presence of harmful substances.
Director General Punjab Food Authority said that those involved in manufacturing counterfeit and unsafe food items under the guise of genuine products will not be spared. He reiterated the department’s commitment to protecting public health and enforcing food safety laws across the province.
The DG urged citizens to report food-related complaints by calling the PFA helpline 1223, adding that public cooperation plays a vital role in ensuring the supply of safe and healthy food.
