Messaging platform explores redesign aimed at improving user experience and quicker status access
SAN FRANCISCO: WhatsApp is developing a redesigned Status update feature aimed at making access faster and more convenient for users, according to a report by WABetaInfo.
The company is reportedly working on integrating Status updates into the app’s top bar, The section where the profile icon appears allowing users to access updates directly without switching tabs. The move is designed to streamline navigation and enhance overall user experience.
Under the proposed update, Status posts from frequently contacted individuals would appear at the top of the chat tab. This means users would no longer need to open a separate Status section to view the latest updates, as they could access them directly from the main chat screen.
Additionally, WhatsApp is exploring alternative layouts, including a horizontal row of contact Status updates that may appear when scrolling within the chat interface. Hidden contacts’ Status updates would remain concealed.
The feature is currently under development and is not yet available to beta testers. The company has not announced a timeline for a wider release but continues to focus on improving user engagement through design innovation.
