Initiative aims to promote safe mobility and independence among women in the federal capital
ISLAMABAD: A women-exclusive driving institute, “Uraan Driving School,” was inaugurated in the Federal Capital under the directions of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, officials said.
The facility was formally opened by Islamabad Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi to provide safe and professional driving training to women and female students in the city.
Established at the Islamabad Traffic Headquarters, the school will offer structured training in car and scooty driving under the supervision of trained female police officers. Chief Traffic Officer Captain (R) Hamza Humayun will oversee its operations.
Authorities said the initiative is designed to enhance women’s mobility and confidence by equipping them with modern driving skills in a secure environment. Admissions have commenced on a first-come, first-served basis at affordable fees.
Women enrolling in the program will also receive a free learner’s permit issued by the Islamabad Capital Traffic Police. Applicants must possess a valid national identity card and submit the required admission form to begin training.
Officials said the move is expected to strengthen women’s independence and encourage safer driving practices across the capital.
