Pakistan reinforces global security relevance through high-level diplomacy, defence cooperation, and strategic engagement at Munich Security Conference
WEB DESK: Pakistan’s strategic relevance came into sharp focus at the 62nd Munich Security Conference, where high-level engagements highlighted Islamabad’s growing role in global and regional security. Held in Germany from February 13 to 15, the conference gathered world leaders, diplomats, and military officials amid shifting geopolitical realities.
Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Staff and Chief of Army Staff, Asim Munir, led key discussions on the sidelines, including a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Talks focused on regional security, counter-terrorism cooperation, and strengthening bilateral coordination. According to ISPR, both sides reaffirmed commitment to addressing shared security challenges.
Field Marshal Munir also met senior officials from Europe and beyond, including Germany’s Alexander Dobrindt and Carsten Breuer, discussing defence cooperation, emerging threats, and multilateral peace efforts.
Meanwhile, US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz praised Pakistan’s diplomatic role, highlighting its participation in multilateral initiatives and engagement with key Muslim-majority partners. He also underscored Pakistan’s importance in reducing nuclear escalation risks linked to tensions over Kashmir.
The engagements reinforced Pakistan’s standing as a key stakeholder in international security, counter-terrorism, and regional stability, aligning with the conference’s theme of navigating an evolving global order.
