Leaders hail strategic partnership, vow stronger economic, security, and regional collaboration
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China marked 75 years of diplomatic relations with renewed pledges of friendship, economic cooperation, and regional partnership, as leaders from Islamabad hailed the enduring “iron brotherhood” between the two nations.
President Asif Ali Zardari extended greetings to China on the Year of the Horse, calling it a symbol of energy, progress, and endurance. He described 2026 as a milestone year in bilateral ties and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the One-China policy while thanking Beijing for its consistent support on key regional and international issues, including Kashmir.
Zardari highlighted the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative, saying it continues to unlock new opportunities for mutual prosperity. He expressed confidence that the next phase of CPEC would accelerate trade, innovation, and people-to-people exchanges, strengthening economic transformation in Pakistan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also conveyed warm greetings to President Xi Jinping and the Chinese people, expressing hope that the new year would bring health, prosperity, and progress. He described Pakistan and China as “iron brothers” bound by a shared vision of peace, development, and regional connectivity.
Both leaders emphasized that the long-standing partnership remains vital for regional peace, security, and economic growth, pledging to expand cooperation in trade, technology, defense, and cultural exchanges for the benefit of both nations
