Pakistan tells the UN that accountability and international law are key to sustainable peace in Gaza
WEB DESK: Pakistan has told the United Nations Security Council that justice is essential for lasting Gaza peace, as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar pressed for an immediate halt to expansion in the occupied West Bank.
Addressing a high-level session at the United Nations, Dar said peace cannot take root without accountability. He reiterated Pakistan’s support for a two-state solution, calling it the only viable path to long-term stability in the region.
His remarks came ahead of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Washington for talks focused on Gaza’s reconstruction and humanitarian relief. Diplomats expect fresh funding pledges in the coming days as global attention shifts from conflict to rebuilding.
For families in Gaza, however, diplomacy feels distant. Many remain displaced, struggling with damaged infrastructure and limited access to basic services. Analysts say political statements must now translate into practical steps on the ground.
Pakistan’s renewed push reflects growing international pressure to revive negotiations. Whether new initiatives can narrow deep divisions remains uncertain, but the coming weeks could prove critical for both ceasefire efforts and reconstruction planning.
