Pakistan, Middle Eastern States Express Deep Concern Over Controversial Statement
Islamabad: Pakistan, along with several Islamic and Arab countries, strongly condemned a recent statement by the United States ambassador to Israel, describing it as a violation of international law and a threat to regional stability, according to a spokesperson from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The joint declaration criticized the ambassador’s remarks suggesting Israel’s right to control Arab territories, particularly the West Bank. Officials noted that the statement contradicted the vision of former U.S. President Donald J. Trump, which aimed at resolving the Gaza conflict and establishing a free Palestinian state. Foreign ministers emphasized that such statements fuel tension instead of fostering peace.
The declaration reaffirmed that Israel holds no sovereignty over Palestinian territories or any Arab lands. It rejected attempts to annex the West Bank, expand illegal settlements, or isolate the Gaza Strip.
Signatories of the statement included representatives from Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Syria, and Palestine, alongside the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, League of Arab States, and Gulf Cooperation Council.
The communiqué reiterated full support for Palestinian self-determination and the establishment of a free Palestinian state within the June 4, 1967, borders.
