The spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Ismail Baghaei, has declared that Iran does not understand the meaning of surrender and will not tolerate violations of its territory. Speaking at a press briefing in Tehran he emphasized that Iran reserves the right to self defense and would respond to any act of aggression.
Baghaei stated that prolonged and exhausting negotiations offer no benefit to Iran adding that the interests of the Iranian people remain a red line in any potential nuclear agreement. He also warned that the presence of European military forces in the region would be viewed as hostile while any limited strike by the United States would be considered an act of aggression.
Meanwhile Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian struck a comparatively measured tone. In a statement posted on X Pezeshkian said encouraging signals had emerged from recent discussions with the United States. He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to regional peace and stability noting that practical proposals had been exchanged during negotiations.
The president added that Iran is closely monitoring U.S. actions and has completed necessary preparations for any potential scenario.
