Fuel price hike reflects global crude oil trends, with petrol and diesel rates set to increase in early March
WEB DESK: Pakistan is set for another round of fuel price increases, with petrol and diesel rates likely to rise from March 1, 2026, pending government approval. Analysts from Arif Habib Limited project that petrol (Motor Spirit) could increase by Rs5.13 per litre, reaching Rs263.30, while high-speed diesel (HSD) may jump by Rs6.8 per litre to Rs282.50.
The anticipated hike is linked to upward trends in the global oil market. Prices of Arab Light crude have risen approximately 2.7 per cent, and a modest widening in product spreads has added further pressure on domestic fuel costs.
During the previous pricing review, the federal government had already increased fuel rates, setting petrol at Rs258.17 per litre and diesel at Rs275.70 per litre. The new adjustment, if approved, will continue the trend of aligning domestic fuel prices with international market fluctuations.
